My reading tastes are all over the place from raunch to children's picture books, but I draw the line at romances.  One of my previous jobs for over 10 years was at a library; I loved it, was like putting a kid in a candy store.  I took advantage of a brisk donation system there, ditto those books removed from circulation that needed a good home ...  So, I have a good supply of books to pass on to others as soon as I've read them.

I have stumbled upon some really good writing purely by accident, I love it when that happens.  I do pay attention to book reviews, best lists and NPR recommendations but sometimes will pick up a book for the slightest reason, like the setting.  That's how I happened upon Fall On Your Knees by Anne-Marie MacDonald, which goes on my All Time Best List.
